Laboratory testing and treatment options so borehole water is fit for its intended use.

A water sample is sent for laboratory analysis covering pH, total dissolved solids, hardness, iron, fluoride, bacteria such as E. coli, and other parameters relevant to your intended use. Results show whether water is safe to drink as-is, needs treatment, or suits agricultural or industrial use without further processing.

Powerwell schedules sampling after borehole development so the test is not contaminated by drilling fluids. That timing is part of the sixteen-stage process, after pumping tests and before final pump and treatment decisions.

Treatment is specified from the report — not a standard filter sold to every client. Iron, fluoride, hardness and microbiological risk each need different responses. Over-treating wastes money; under-treating puts users at risk.

Coastal Mombasa, parts of Kajiado and some ASAL counties need extra attention to salinity. Nairobi and highland sites have different typical issues. Local geology is why county pages and a proper survey still matter even at the testing stage.

Process

  1. Sampling — A sample is taken after development so results reflect the aquifer, not drilling mud.
  2. Laboratory analysis — Physical, chemical and microbiological parameters relevant to your use — including pH, TDS, hardness, iron, fluoride and bacteria such as E. coli.
  3. Interpretation — We explain whether water is potable as-is, needs treatment, or suits irrigation/industrial use.
  4. Treatment options — Where required we advise filtration, disinfection or other treatment matched to the lab report.

Water looks fine — do I still need a test?

Many contaminants are invisible and tasteless. Analysis protects everyone who will drink or cook with the supply, even when water looks clear.

Is salty water common?
