Water Purification Systems Kenya

Filtration, softening, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis units that turn borehole water into safe, clean supply.

Many Kenyan boreholes produce water that is plentiful but not ready to drink. Iron stains, hardness, high salinity and fluoride are common, and microbiological risk is always worth controlling. A purification system removes the problems your laboratory report identifies.

Powerwell designs each unit from the test results. Pre-treatment with sand, carbon or softening media handles sediment, iron, odour and hardness. Ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membranes remove fine particles, dissolved salts and fluoride, and UV or dosing provides final disinfection where required.

Plants are sized from daily demand and the borehole's tested yield, then mounted on a skid with a booster pump and plumbed into your storage and distribution. Homes, schools, hospitals, farms and water kiosks each get a capacity matched to real use.

We commission the system by checking the treated water before handover, and set up a servicing schedule for backwashing, media and membrane replacement so quality stays consistent.

Start with water quality testing if you have not tested yet, or send us your existing lab report, location and daily water use for a quotation.

Process

  1. Lab results first — Treatment is designed from a laboratory report on your water: iron, hardness, salinity (TDS), fluoride and bacteria each need a different stage.
  2. System sizing — Daily demand, peak flow and the borehole's yield set the plant capacity, so the unit keeps up without overworking the pump.
  3. Supply and installation — Pre-treatment vessels, membrane housings, booster pump, valves and pipework are installed and plumbed into your storage and distribution.
  4. Commissioning and servicing — Output water is checked before handover, and we schedule backwashing, media and membrane servicing so quality holds over time.

FAQs

Do I need purification if my borehole water looks clear?

Clear water can still carry salts, fluoride or bacteria. A laboratory test tells you whether purification is needed and which stages, before you spend on equipment.

What is the difference between filtration and reverse osmosis?

Filtration and softening remove sediment, iron, odour and hardness. Reverse osmosis also removes dissolved salts and fluoride, which matters for salty or high-TDS boreholes.

Can you install a purification unit on an existing borehole?

Yes. We test the water, size the unit to your demand and fit it between the borehole and your storage tank, with no need to drill again.

How often does a purification system need servicing?

Media vessels are backwashed regularly and membranes and cartridges are replaced on a schedule set by your water quality and usage. We agree a service plan at handover.
