Borehole Pump Installation Kenya
Complete setup with submersible pumps, rising main, controls and protection matched to real yield.
Equipping is the stage that turns a completed borehole into a usable water supply. Powerwell does not select pumps from a catalogue guess. We test-pump, then size the unit to sustainable yield, drawdown, head and your daily demand — household, livestock, irrigation or commercial.
The pumping test extracts water at controlled rates while water level is monitored. Engineers calculate the maximum long-term extraction rate that will not deplete the aquifer or damage the borehole. Those numbers become the pump specification.
Installation covers the submersible at the correct depth, rising main, waterproof power cable, non-return valve and a sealed pump head. Control equipment — pressure switch, float switch, control box — is wired with surge and lightning protection where the site requires it.
Watertight connections, correct depth and protection against dry-running keep the system efficient for years. Poor equipping is expensive to undo; we treat it as part of the same accountable delivery as drilling.
Internal links matter for planning: pair this service with hydrogeological survey, borehole drilling and, where off-grid, solar borehole systems. Elevated tanks are specified so the pump is not forced to run whenever a tap opens.

Process
- Pumping test first — We pump at controlled rates and record drawdown and recovery to calculate safe sustainable yield.
- Pump selection — Static water level, yield, total dynamic head and daily demand determine model and horsepower — not a neighbour’s pump.
- Installation — Submersible on rising main, waterproof cable, non-return valve, sealed headworks, controls and surge protection.
- Commissioning — Flow, pressure and protection devices are verified before handover.
FAQs
Why not copy a neighbour’s pump?
Nearby boreholes can differ dramatically in yield and water level. A pump chosen without test data is a frequent cause of premature failure and poor performance.
Do you install solar pumps?
Yes. Electric, solar and hybrid configurations are specified after yield and demand are known. See our solar borehole systems page for array design.
What is included in borehole pump installation?
Typical scopes include the submersible pump on rising main, waterproof power cable, non-return valve, sealed headworks, and control gear such as pressure or float switches, with surge protection where the site requires it.
Can you equip an existing borehole?
Yes, when access and borehole records allow. We prefer a current pumping test before selecting a replacement pump so sizing matches sustainable yield rather than a neighbour's setup.
